Heading out for a couple weeks on Monday... San Francisco to Stockholm, North to Ostersund, then on to London, back to Sweden for a spell, then home to California for a round trip grand total of around 12,000 miles...

I've got three cameras, two bricks of film and a slew of maps in the bag. I'll hopefully be posting updates along the way, stay tuned for terribly, painfully dull travel selfies, pictures of weird food (think pickled herring) and a fair amount of jet-lag / alcohol induced culture shock.

Frank Espada 1930-2014

The photography world suffered a great loss this week, but the world as a whole is made stronger by what Frank Espada left behind. As a student I had the great privilege of studying under Frank for a short time. I can honestly say that he taught me everything I know about the darkroom.

Frank Espada, leader and activist of New York's Puerto Rican community in the 1960s, died in California, his son said Monday. He was 84.
